CARF's long-time commitment to performance improvement via an performance improvement system (PIS) is a practical approach that assists organizations with obtaining information useful for managing program operations. Components of the outcomes evaluation system include: effectiveness indicators, efficiency indicators, access indicators, client input and stakeholder input, and post-discharge follow-up.

 

Performance AnalysisPerformance Analysis
Data collected by the organization are utilized for business and service delivery improvement. The results of the PIS are reported annually via a performance analysis. The actual performance information should be distributed in a manner that is useful for clients, stakeholders, and employees of the organization.

 

Business Function ImprovementBusiness Function Improvement
In addition to CARF standards requiring that programs measure their service delivery outcomes via a performance improvement system, the organization itself must establish business goals and indicators, collect and analyze data, and then determine performance improvement needs and successes.

 

Written Technology and Information System PlanWritten Technology and Information System Plan
Each core program that applies for CARF accreditation must have a written description of its Technology and Information System Plan that is used to support information management and performance improvement activities.

 

Safeguards of RecordsSafeguards of Records
All records of the organization (both clinical and administrative) are maintained in a secure manner, with designated responsibility
for controlling the records and implementing policies and procedures.
