Performance Improvement
CARF's long-time commitment to performance
improvement via an performance
improvement system
(PIS) is a practical approach that assists
organizations with obtaining information
useful for managing program operations.
Components of the outcomes evaluation system
include: effectiveness indicators, efficiency
indicators, access indicators, client input
and stakeholder input, and post-discharge

Performance Analysis
Data collected by the organization are utilized for business and service delivery improvement. The results of the PIS are reported annually via a performance analysis. The actual performance information should be distributed in a manner that is useful for clients, stakeholders, and employees of the organization.

| Business
Function Improvement
In addition to CARF standards requiring
that programs measure their service delivery
outcomes via a performance improvement system,
the organization itself must establish business
goals and indicators, collect and analyze
data, and then determine performance improvement
needs and successes.

Written Technology
and Information System Plan
Each core program that applies for CARF
accreditation must have a written description
of its Technology and Information System
Plan that is used to support information
management and performance improvement activities.
